Tangible takeaways:
-
Case studies with different challenges that a director and DP would encounter, and how to navigate those (ie. indie feature vs TV format)
-
How the creative role of a director and DP differs
-
How a director can most effectively communicate with a DP to convey tone and preference
-
They why behind certain choices a DP will make
-
A discussion of lens sizes and other technical terms that could empower directors in their communication and knowledge
Who is this for: This class is ideal for mid-level directors who have been established in their practice for about 2 years (ie. a couple shorts under their belt; perhaps you are gearing up to direct your first feature…). Though you are welcome to apply with any level of experience, the folks who will get the most out of this class are those who have some foundational directing knowledge under their belt.
