When:

 

The in-person, Toronto based intensive will run from January 25th-29th, 2027 (held at The Vault Creation Lab). This is followed by 6 months of continued virtual programming, wrapping up on July 31st, 2027. 

 

What:

 

The week-long intensive will be comprised of daily masterclasses that cover areas of learning such as: 

• high-level story design 

• pitching

• the director/ cinematographer relationship

• funding
   

Outside of classes, you will have daily writing and project development time blocks, followed by break-out group feedback sessions that will provide the opportunity to workshop ideas with your peers. 

 

During one evening of the week, we will hold a gathering in which industry professionals and peers will attend, providing a space for networking and introductions to potential collaborators. 

 

The following 6 months of mentorship will include group check ins, masterclasses, as well as personalized, one-on-one monthly mentorship sessions with a mentor that we pair based on the specific needs of your project.

Who this is for:

 

This mentorship program is designed for emerging trans, non-binary, two-spirit, and / or gender-diverse filmmakers who are looking for both project-specific and general industry education support. We aim to help bridge the gap between being an emerging artist and moving towards mid career establishment, offering education, guidance and connections that will move you towards a sustainable career in the film industry.

Program Eligibility: 

​

• you are Toronto based (there are NO travel or accommodation stipends for Toronto based participants, though you are welcome to apply if you are able to be in Toronto during the week of the in-person intensive)​ OR
  ​

• you are Calgary based (we have two spots available for Calgary based folks in which travel + accommodation costs will be covered by a Calgary Arts Development grant)​
   

• you are a Trans, Non-binary, Two Spirit, and / or Gender-Diverse emerging filmmaker​
   

• you've had at least 2 projects produced which you have either written and / or directed (this could be short film, web-series, limited series, tv episode or feature film format)

Compensation:

 

Program participants will receive an honorarium of $4000.00 for participation.

Applications close at 12pm EST on August 31st. Short-listed applicants will be invited for an interview during the first week of October.
