Class description: Join writer/director Luis De Filippis (‘Something You Said Last Night’, TIFF 2022) for an in-depth masterclass on everyone’s favourite topic: funding! Using her feature film Something You Said Last Night as a case study, this class will walk you through the path that Luis and her team took to finance her first feature.

Tangible takeaways:

  • Navigating the public Canadian grant system (what grants are available at what stages of production; ie: Canada Arts Council, Telefilm, CMF, Ontario Arts Council, TAC etc.)

  • Knowledge around private funding

  • US funding explained

  • Co-productions explained

  • Tax credits - what are they and how/ when to use them

Who is this for: This class is great for anyone who wants to learn more about the funding world, though it’s most suitable for filmmakers who have had previous experience funding and executing a short film, and who are now looking to move into feature film format.
