Class size capped at: 20 students

Class description: Grants! Every independent Canadian filmmaker’s foe and (hopefully) friend. Join writer/director J Stevens (The Z Suite, Sort Of), for a comprehensive grants masterclass. This class will offer guidance and insight into what makes a great funding application, and how to cater to what different government bodies are looking for in applicants.

Tangible takeaways:
-
A detailed list of all the major funding bodies (city-based, provincial, and national)
-
Private funding - what is different and how to find it?
-
A step by step walk through of a successful grant application, highlighting the key points that separate an application that receives funding from the ones that don’t
-
Grant etiquette (establishing relationships with granting officers etc.)
-
Lots of room for live discussion to ensure participants’ specific questions are answered
Who is this for: This class is great for any filmmaker who is interested in empowering themselves with the knowledge that will lend itself to writing grants with intention and clarity. Whether you are new to the granting system or are looking to improve your existing knowledge of the system, you’ll be able to glean something helpful from this class.
